Britains snow blanket disrupts flights from Gatwick and Edinburgh
The snow blanket that has encompassed whole of the Britain particularly London has not only affected the daily activities of people but has also disrupted several departures and arrivals from Edinburgh and Gatwick.
Management at Edinburgh has declared that the airport will remain closed till 4:00 pm. Travelers are advised to check with their airlines before going to airports. Gatwick which has been closed day before yesterday is still not in operational condition. The airport’s website affirmed that the airport will remain closed for Thursday 2nd December, 2010 and that it might get operational till 6:00 on Friday, 3rd December 2010. the authorities have advised the travellers who have flights scheduled for tomorrow, to contact their respective airlines before leaving for airport. A Gatwick spokesman said: “We are doing everything we can to resume operations, however conditions have deteriorated considerably. Our teams are working around the clock to make the runway safe for aircraft to use and get our airlines and passengers flying again.”
Not only air travel services but the day to day activities have also been affected by this big breeze. Several schools, roads and railway tracks have been affected and commuters are facing several problems.
